SLMG’s purpose is to develop and enhance the agricultural industry in Shetland and deliver best value back to Shetland farmers and crofters for their distinctive produce.

SLMG is a co-operative body which was formed in November 2003. We represent around 300 farmers and crofters within Shetland.

Our main activities are:

• Livestock sales & marketing
• Branded meat sales & marketing
• Operation of the Shetland Animal Health Scheme
• Political lobbying on behalf of the industry
• Provision of diversified services

At present the current sales programme is on hold until we get clarification from the Scottish Executive regarding livestock movements.

We are assessing the situation daily and will keep consignors informed of revised sale dates and times.
